Shocking Truths Exposed!

I’ve struggled a bit for direction in what to teach in our midweek Bible study. I had wanted to tackle the subject of grace as it relates to living the Christian life. But I also wanted to touch on the subject of joy and how seldom we possess it. I thought also of the subject of the fulness of the Holy Spirit. All seem interrelated and books and materials abound on the subjects. Therefore, I’ve been reading from about six different books on the subject.

Finally, it hit me today. The reason I feel drawn to these subjects is that they seem so elusive. Most believers don’t realize that God wants them to take the risk of living by grace. And we rarely take advantage of the joy that could be ours. Instead, Christians often lead passionless, boring, entrapped, and defeated lives.So we’re going to do an expose! But instead of exposing doctrinal error, we’re going to expose doctrinal truth – truth that is rarely known among believers. I really don’t know exactly where I’m going with the series, but I know that we’ll be touching on at least these subjects…

• Our freedom and new identity in Christ.
• The meaning of grace and why it really is so amazing.
• The possibility of peace and joy that always seem so unreachable.
• The knowability of the Holy Spirit, Who always seems so unknowable.

I’ll share more about these ideas as we go through the series, and I’ll also be recommending some great books that I’m reading through for growth purposes.
