From the Series JOURNEY THROUGH THE WORD: The Book of Numbers

Based on Numbers 15-18

ONE GREAT TRUTH: The whole human race is lost, wandering apart from God, as the consequence of sin, but God is on a search and rescue mission for all of us!

FIVE THOUGHTS ABOUT BEING LOST AND WANDERING…

1. We are separated from God by His holiness and our unholiness.

One of the harshest illustrations of God’s standards of holiness is demonstrated in chapter 15. I don’t presume to understand all the answers to why God handles things the way He does – I often have big and almost unanswerable questions about God’s judgment and justice. What I do know is that the man who was stoned for breaking the law of the sabbath served as a visible lesson to the entire nation of Israel that sinners perish.

None of us keep the law – we are all deserving of (and destined for) the punishment of God toward sin. The gap between us is part of our lostness and our wandering.

2. We are separated from God by His authority and our rebellion.

3. We are sick in our souls, dying, and dead.

4. God offers His ONE Rod of Salvation – Jesus Christ

5. God raises up those who give us the message of salvation.

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
