What I Do

Pastor and Purpose Driven Community Coordinator, Saddleback Church

I’m a Pastor at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. My role, in a nutshell, is to connect with Pastors via Pastors.com and help them to be healthy Pastors who lead healthy churches. I edit and write content for the site and “pastor” the online Pastors community.

Identity, Logo, and Web Designer and Social Media Strategist, eGrace Creative

I’ve been designing websites for churches since 1998 and in 2007, I launched eGrace Creative as a vehicle for offering these services on a freelance basis. I also find myself advising leaders and organizations on the effective use of social media to communicate their messages online.

Editor, Fuel Your Blogging

In December of 2009, I assumed the editorship of an online magazine called Fuel Your Blogging. It’s one of several online periodicals published by the Fuel Brand Network. I offer blogging tips and advice, edit content, and manage the site’s community. I also offer a page on this site dedicated to tips and tools for bloggers (particularly Pastors).

I’ve also served as Lead Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Bentonville, Arkansas (2005 – 2010) and Scottsville Road Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky (1998 – 2005).

Personal Stuff

I am blessed. I was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I graduated from Warren Central High School in 1995 and married my high school sweetheart, Angie. We attended Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas and then returned to Bowling Green. My wife holds Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees from Western Kentucky University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Immediately upon becoming an LCSW, she changed careers and taught Bible to sixth and seventh graders at Life Way Christian School. Currently she stays at home with our two awesome kids, Ella and Sam, and she writes a blog called The Sweet Life.

I enjoy reading, starting with the Bible, but also books about theology, leadership, and the Christian life. I like to hike, drive in the country, and write about anything that happens to be on my mind. I think Andy Griffith is history’s greatest show, George Washington is history’s greatest president, and Reese’s Pieces is the best food group. Oh, and I’m also a self-proclaimed brand evangelist for Chick-fil-A.
