Below is a mind map. Behold…

If you’ve never used mind mapping, you might want to give it a try. I’ve found it to be an excellent tool for brainstorming, organizational charting, sermon preparation, memorization of large amounts of data, planning, and collaboration. Essentially, mind mapping is a means of throwing our thoughts out on paper with some kind of spatial representation that our brains tend to enjoy.

Abortion is a Deal-Breaker for Me

Al Mohler published a blog article today entitled Is the Abortion Argument Changing?. It’s excellent. At the end, he references a sermon by Russell Moore that makes the argument that Joseph (Jesus’ step-father) was a “single-issue evangelical.”

I’m fairly progressive. I’m quite forward-thinking. But when it comes to the issue of life in relationship to politics, elections, legislation, etc., abortion is still a deal-breaker for me. Am I a narrow-minded single-issue evangelical? Absolutely. Why? Because the whole time we’re focused on…

  • The environment.
  • Unemployment.
  • Taxes.
  • Welfare.
  • Healthcare.
  • The war.
  • Foreign relations.
  • The economy.
  • Defense.
  • New energy sources.

We can say “just look beyond this one issue.” As far as I’m concerned, that’s like asking the guy who is having a heart attack to focus on his runny nose. We have a problem for which God will surely pour out His wrath. They are ultimately his babies, after all.

And here’s another point: Abortion IS Racism! Read or watch…

Where Was My Brain Today?

Posted by Brandon under Personal on Thursday, October 9th, 2008

This has been a long, but very good day. Angie couldn’t sleep at 3:30 a.m. so I got up too and started working on things. That may explain the mental lapses I endured throughout the day. I dropped Ella off at school and headed to the grocery store to pick up some fried chicken for Bethel’s Keenagers’ luncheon. About 10:30, a church member dropped by and I asked, “Oh, are you here for the Keenager’s meeting?” He helped me remember that it isn’t this week – it’s next week.

An hour later, a fellow local Pastor called and asked, “Aren’t you coming to lunch?” That’s right. We had scheduled a lunch together today, when I was planning on attending the Keenagers’ Luncheon that is actually going on next week. I recently turned 31. Maybe it’s my age kicking in! What was I writing about anyway?
